SAMUGAM Trust, a non-profit organization registered under Indian Trust Act, was founded in the year 1991 by Thiru. C. Jesudhasan Savio and is currently led by Thiru. Bruno Savio. SAMUGAM is one of the pioneer organisation to work with persons affected by leprosy in Pullambadi Taluk of Tiruchirapalli District.
SAMUGAM continues to work for the welfare and development of women, children of disadvantaged communities, Health and sanitation in the State of Tamil Nadu. SAMUGAM projects interventions focussed on realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 1, 2, 3, 4,6, 8 and 10).
In Pondicherry, SAMUGAM works for the welfare, well- being, and development of indigenous communities like Narikuravaras, (gypsy) and Adivasi communities (Kurumbar) in specific children, youth and women.
To improve the living condition and general welfare of socially, educationally and economically under developed people of the country.
To run shelter homes for disabled, leprosy patients, aged and children.
To enable youth to acquire skills for employment and self-employment
To cater to the health needs of the people in coordination and collaborations with state medical organization.
To provide relief to the needy in areas affected by natural calamities and other emergencies.
To undertake programmes of housing to the poor people.
To promote preservation of environment and ecology
To provide necessary aid to the aged and disabled with shelter, food, medicine and otherfacilities
To detect cases of leprosy, tuberculosis and chronic diseases and to bring them under treatment
To treat and rehabilitate the handicapped and to promote the welfare of the widows, old age, abandoned children, Leprosy patients and their family etc.,
To approach public, national and international donor agencies, state and central governments for financial help to implement the programme

Community Outreach in Puducherry : Samugam began working closely with gypsy and marginalized communities in Puducherry, launching a day-care and education support center for children

Safe Homes for Vulnerable Children : Separate residential homes for boys and girls were established to provide protection, care, and access to education.
2013
JALLY Home for Girls Opened in Its Own Building : A major milestone in providing a stable, safe, and nurturing environment for vulnerable girls.
2014
Launch of the SAMUPLAN Program : A new education and community empowerment initiative supporting children from gypsy and tribal communities.
2015
Expansion of JALLY Home : The girls’ home expanded to support more children in need of care, education, and protection.
2016
Government Recognition of JALLY Home : The JALLY Home received official recognition and licensing from the Government of Puducherry.

Samugam is guided by a committed Board of Trustees led by J. Bruno, Managing Trustee, alongside Annie Nirmala, Financial Trustee, and Trustees Haripriya, Abitha, and Kavitha. Together, they bring diverse expertise in sociology, education, management, and finance, providing the leadership, oversight, and accountability that enable Samugam to create lasting impact for vulnerable children, families, and communities.
Our work is carried out by a dedicated team of 39 full-time staff, 2 part-time staff, and the invaluable support of 10 volunteers, including 8 local and 2 international volunteers.
